Imagine this scene: you are surfing TV channels and you come across a discussion on energy conservations, what do you do? If you are like the average population, you might just change the channel without blinking your eye. Most people find topics like energy conservations boring and do not stop to think about how important such topics are. Like all conservations, energy conservations too do not get the importance they deserve. But have you ever thought of what will happen to this earth if no one pays attention to such things?

All important resources will slowly disappear. Look around you and you will find a lot of inspiration in your efforts towards conserving energy. Take your fridge, for example. Switch off your refrigerator for just a few hours everyday and you can make a tremendous contribution when you think about the energy saved long term. Not cooling the refrigerator too much will still keep your food safe, without harming environment. Switch off all appliances when you are not using them. Do not leave the TV, lights, computer etc on when you do not need them.

As far as possible, try to recycle things. When you use recycled goods, you are cutting on the energy required for the production of the item. Try to reduce waste and also buy recycled goods.

Vehicles are a major source of energy consumption and also of environmental pollution. Give yourself some exercise- walk, jog or ride your bicycle to all places possible. If you have to travel long distance, think of carpool as an option. You should also make use of public transport facilities as mush as you can and reduce using personal vehicles.

Most of the electrical appliances available in the market today have an energy-saving model. It might cost a few dollars extra, but it is well worth every cent if you can save your precious earth. Besides this, you will also be cutting down on your power consumption and reducing your electricity bills.

Things like energy conservations require the help from community. You can spread awareness about conserving energy and become the mouthpiece of the environment. You can ask the organization where you work to cut down on energy used. You can speak in schools and get student volunteers. You can help.
